What is a biogas plant and how does it work?
A biogas plant converts organic waste such as food scraps, cow dung and agricultural residue into biogas, a clean renewable fuel for cooking, heating or power generation. Inside an airtight tank, natural bacteria break the waste down and release methane-rich gas that is piped to a stove or generator. The leftover slurry is a nutrient-rich organic fertiliser.

Which biogas plant should I choose for my home?
For most homes the Mixed Lever Biogas Plant is the best fit. It comes in five sizes, from 0.5 m³ for about 3 kg of waste and water a day up to 2 m³ for about 20 kg a day. The Floating Biogas Plant suits homes, farms and institutions with 2.5–30 kg of daily waste, the High Pressure model adds lever-controlled gas flow, and the Industrial Biogas Plant is custom-built for hotels, farms and factories.

What types of waste can be fed into the biogas plant?
Our biogas plants can process kitchen food waste, vegetable peels, cow and poultry dung, fish waste, agricultural crop residue and wastewater sludge. Never add plastic, glass, metal or other non-organic material to the plant.

How much gas does the plant produce per day?
Gas output depends on the plant capacity and how much waste you add. As a guide, our Mixed Lever models give about 20 minutes to 4 hours of cooking gas a day for 3 kg to 20 kg of waste, and our Floating models give about 45 minutes to 5 hours a day for 2.5 kg to 30 kg of waste. Our team will help you choose a size based on your daily waste.

How long does installation take, and what is required?
A portable biogas plant is usually installed in 1–2 days and needs a flat surface with access to water and organic waste. Fixed plants can take 3–7 days depending on the size and site preparation. Our team handles the installation and shows you how to operate and maintain the plant.

What can I do with the slurry from a biogas plant?
The slurry that flows out of the plant is a nutrient-rich organic fertiliser. You can use it for kitchen gardens, vegetables, coconut trees and farm crops, which reduces the need for chemical fertilisers.

Is Emerald's biogas plant patented?
Yes. Emerald Enterprises is the only company in India holding a patent on the Level Model High-Tech Biogas Plant, a design developed for better gas retention, easier maintenance and higher efficiency.

Are government subsidies available for biogas plants?
Yes. As a registered service provider for ANERT (Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology) and Suchitwa Mission Kerala, we help customers apply for available government subsidies. Eligibility depends on the plant size, your location and the current scheme guidelines, so contact us for the latest information.

How much LPG can a biogas plant replace?
According to MNRE, 1 m³ of biogas is roughly equal to 0.42 kg of LPG, 0.62 litres of kerosene or 3.47 kg of firewood. How much LPG you save depends on the plant size and how much waste you feed it every day.

Why has my biogas plant stopped producing gas?
The most common reason is overfeeding, which makes the digester too acidic. Stop feeding for a few days and then restart with small, steady amounts. A thick scum layer on the surface can also block gas; remove it by hand. If the problem continues, call our service team.
13.
Is biogas safe to use at home?
Yes, when the plant is installed and used correctly. Cook in a well-ventilated kitchen, keep open flames away from the gas holder and pipes, and check the gas line for leaks. Never enter an enclosed digester, as biogas can cause suffocation.

What materials are your boats made from?
All our boats are made from high-grade Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) with Isophthalic resin and Isophthalic gelcoat. This combination gives an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, UV stability and a long working life — ideal for South India's backwaters, lakes, rivers and coastal waters.

What sizes and prices are your kayaks?
The Single Seated Kayak is 320 cm long and 82 cm wide and costs ₹26,000. The Double Seated Kayak is 410 cm long and 86 cm wide and costs ₹32,000. Both prices include GST, and transportation is extra.

Can I customise the size, colour, or seating of my boat?
Yes. We offer customisation of seating capacity (6, 8 or 10 seats for speed boats), colour scheme, interior layout and motor type. Our team finalises the specifications with you before manufacturing begins. Custom orders typically take 3–6 weeks depending on complexity.

What engine options are available for the speed boat?
Our speed boats use an outboard motor (OBM) with a maximum engine capacity of 115 HP. We can accommodate different engine brands and capacities based on your use — recreational, commercial or rescue. Transportation of the boat to your location is charged separately.

Do your boats come with a warranty?
Yes. Pedal boats and row boats have a 3-year warranty on the FRP body and a 1-year warranty on steel fittings, and all Emerald boats come with a manufacturer's warranty on FRP workmanship. Engine warranties follow the motor manufacturer's terms. Our after-sales team supports maintenance and repairs across South India.

Why is FRP better than wood or steel for boats?
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, FRP weighs about 1.5–1.7 tonnes per cubic metre compared with about 7.8 tonnes for steel, and it does not rot, corrode or get attacked by marine borers. An FRP hull is moulded as one piece with no seams to caulk, so it needs much less maintenance than a wooden boat.

How much can I save on my electricity bill with solar panels?
Savings depend on your system size, consumption pattern and tariff. A well-sized residential solar system in South India can typically offset 70–100% of daytime electricity use, which brings a significant cut in monthly bills. We provide a free site assessment to give you an accurate savings estimate.

What maintenance do solar panels require?
Solar panels need very little maintenance — mainly periodic cleaning to remove dust and bird droppings, which can reduce output by 10–20%. We recommend a professional inspection once a year to check connections, inverter performance and mountings, and we offer annual maintenance contracts.

Does the Emerald incinerator need fuel or electricity?
No. The Emerald Incinerator uses thermal treatment and needs no fuel or electricity. It is portable, works even in the rainy season and safely disposes of paper, sanitary napkins, diapers and similar household waste.

How much electricity does 1 kW of solar produce in Kerala?
KSEB estimates that each kilowatt of well-placed, south-facing rooftop solar generates about 4–6 units of electricity a day. Output is lower on cloudy monsoon days and depends on shade, panel angle and cleanliness.

MNRE suggests about 10 m² of shadow-free roof area for every kilowatt of solar panels. A 3 kW home system therefore needs roughly 30 m² of roof that stays free of shade for most of the day.

The smooth interior prevents biofilm and algae build-up, and the tanks are completely corrosion-free — ideal for freshwater fish farming, prawn culture and ornamental fish breeding. We supply capacities from 500 litres to over 20,000 litres.

How should I dispose of sanitary napkins and diapers?
India's Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 ask households to keep sanitary waste separate from wet and dry waste. Wrap used napkins and diapers and hand them over through your local body's collection system, or treat them in a suitable incinerator. For homes, the Emerald portable incinerator disposes of sanitary waste without fuel or electricity.
